Who are we?

We are The Friends of John Ball – a registered charity and the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) for John Ball Primary School in Blackheath.  Our charity number is: 1017014.

What do we do?

  • The Friends raise money which is spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education, and the facilities in school.
  • Teachers in the school identify initiatives which are not provided for by the school’s budget. We then organise events to raise money and fund these.
  • As well as raise money we also work on bringing the John Ball community together – making our children’s learning experience more fulfilling and exciting.

The Friends’ Committee

Our team all volunteer their time for free to help The Friends, they consist of the following:

TrusteesWe have 5 Trustee members who get involved in all areas of fund raising and help out at almost every event. They also meet once per term to discuss fund proposals which the school have identified.  You can read more about our Trustees and put a face to the name by clicking here.

Committee membersWe have a number of committee members who help The Friends.  The committee meets once per month to discuss event ideas and to evaluate how successful events have been.  Other members of the committee help run events, organise clubs like the Christmas Craft Club and the Lottery, as well as a host of other things.

Friends reps
– All classes in the school have a ‘Friends Rep’.  These reps provide a vital link between parents and The Friends.

Everyone who is a carer or parent with a child at the school is a Friend and anyone can join in – we are a friendly bunch :).
