Open Invitation to Join the Friends of John Ball Annual General Meeting
The Friends of John Ball are having their Annual General Meeting on Monday 15th November at 7.15pm at the school.
The AGM is the formal meeting of the Friends of John Ball Association, where the committee members report back to members (that's you!) about the activities they've run throughout the year, and where the election of the new committee happens.
This year's AGM is particularly important. We have been running the PTA with a reduced team, and now we are looking to fill the key roles to take the charity forward, to run exciting events and improve fundraising. In particular, we need volunteer trustees for:
- Chair & Deputy Chair
- Treasurer & Deputy Treasurer
- Secretary
- Social Media Coordinator
- Comms Coordinator
All of these roles can be split between two people who can closely work to cover the full job specification. We are registered with the Charity Commission, and we need to recruit these roles in order to stay compliant with requirements. We often have parents and carers offering their time for events or initiatives, but now it is critical to recruit for central coordination and management of the charity. The bottom line is that without committee members, the PTA can't continue, so we really do need your help and support.
A great deal of work has gone into running the PTA over the years, and as such, we have a lot of useful information on a shared drive, a mailbox, a great website and online shop. For anyone looking to take the reins in any of the roles, it is a great opportunity to bring your own ideas and experience to benefit the whole school. Whilst there will be a handover from those who have been involved in recent years, the new trustees will be expected to be self-starters and establish
themselves fully in the roles.
If you are keen to get involved, please email us and let us know what role you would like to take on.
You are also more than welcome to ask questions about what is involved and we will do our best to provide you with as much information as we can. The roles will be nominated at our AGM, so please ensure you can attend. This is such a lovely opportunity to welcome any new members into the PTA. It’s always a fun evening and there will be wine/soft drinks and nibbles to enjoy.
Please note, due to health and safety issues, children cannot be accommodated at the AGM.
